Position Overview

The Application Development group within Information Technologies is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Senior Systems Analyst.

This team is responsible for the development and sustainment support of a set of PeopleSoft Enterprise applications. The nature of the job requires a well-rounded knowledge of all aspects of the Peoplesoft architecture and toolsets. This work includes technical analysis, developing technical design specifications, development of custom objects including reports, interfaces, conversions and enhancements. Work arises from issues and problems identified either by the Business or the ERP Working Groups.
 
Reporting to the Lead Application Architect, IT Application Development, this position will provide technical expertise in implementing, enhancing and supporting the PeopleSoft Enterprise systems, comprised of Campus Solutions, Finance, Human Capital Management, Supply Chain Management and the Enterprise Portal.  The Senior Systems Analyst is directly responsible for designing, coding and testing programs within their specific application area including the integration to other application areas or external systems.  This requires working closely with internal staff and external contractors to determine the needs of the community to deliver the framework for a stable, high performing system. The Senior Systems Analyst is expected to mentor and guide junior development resources.

System support is subject to call out, situations may require work outside and in addition to core business hours.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Provide technical input to the PeopleSoft Application Consultants and Business Analysts to help identify and develop system enhancements opportunities and identify  business process improvements while ensuring that alternative solutions to customization requests have been fully investigated
  • Collaborate with the PeopleSoft Application Consultants, Business Analyst, other Systems Analysts and ERP Architects to identify conversion, integration, application enhancements and reporting requirements while ensuring that the scope and cross system impacts are fully understood
  • Ensure that all custom objects are developed according to the University Application Development Standards
  • Efforts are made to maintain development consistencies between Application Modules
  • Collaborate with non-PeopleSoft teams to design and build integrations points
  • Develop security setup for application objects, user profiles and data access
  • Proactively investigate and stays current with the PeopleSoft application product directions and emerging technologies
  • Provide functional and technical support to the Application Consultants, Business  Analysts and Lead Application Architect to help identify and resolve hardware, software and data related problems
  • Provide the release setup and configurations for custom objects that are migrating with the regularly scheduled monthly maintenance releases
  • Delays and other changes to the development build schedules are identified as early as possible and communicated to the Lead Application Architect
  • System performance issues are communicated and jointly resolved with the technical DBA's
  • Ensuring that documentation is properly initiated, authorized and maintained
  • Maintaining confidentiality of user profiles, account information, and other sensitive University and Personal data
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with key constituents
  • All application enhancements will be Unit Tested according to the Unit Test Plan documented in the Technical Design Specification and signed off prior to User Acceptance Testing

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computing Science or recognized technical certification
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of ERP Application Development experience
  • Proficient in the use of project management, requirements analysis,  technical design, development and testing techniques and tools
  • Highly professional team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with business and IT professionals at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills including the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Experience working collaboratively with other developers, technical analysts, business and operational staff
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Proven abilities in resolving problems quickly and efficiently sometimes under pressure
  • ITIL and PM certification an asset
  • Well rounded knowledge of all aspects of the Oracle PeopleSoft Architecture from both a technical and functional perspective
  • Knowledge of the Oracle PeopleSoft Finance/SCM, HCM and Campus Solutions suite of applications.  Version 9.2 experience would be an asset
  • Experience building and sustaining PeopleSoft system interfaces
  • Experience building and sustaining the PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Security and general know of industry standard Access controls
  • Experience with database management software, preferably Oracle
