Position Overview

Finance is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Analyst.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Financial Operations, this position provides expertise in the administration and assessment of cross functional record updates and plays an important role in the provision of data integrity and analysis review services for financial operations related transactions. This role operates independently, with minimal supervision, and displays strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills as this position is expected to liaise with internal stakeholders outside of the unit regarding issue resolution and advice.

This position requires a comprehensive understanding of finance, budget, payroll, and human resources data integration and cross-functional impacts, as well as the ability to operationalize and navigate complex processes, concepts, and relationships. The individual will use professional judgment in respect of data, process and system review, as required, to maintain the integrity of human resource and financial data.  Accuracy, thoroughness, initiative, and flexibility is required as the position is accountable to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
 

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Manage the approval of all position data requests via HR workflow and operationalize the creation, activation, and/or modification of positions and position- related data
  • Administrate integration of position records to meet human resource, budget, and finance needs:
  • Collaborate with Financial Services to ensure timely maintenance of accurate position funding and budget related data
  • Ensure position data in sync between Hyperion and PeopleSoft
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure timely maintenance of position data that complies with the needs of HR Services, Operations, and Recruitment
  • Ensure alignment of vacant positions and statuses with regards to new positions and postings
  • Ensure compliance with Position intake rules:
  • Analyze weekly, monthly and quarterly position reports to ensure the integrity of vacant and filled positions
  • Support finance and human resource partners, liaising with both to understand and advise regarding position data requests and ensure integrity of position data at the faculty and department level
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll related asset and liability accounts as required
  • Prepare formal documentation and provide to Financial Reporting
  • Facilitate resolution of outstanding/reconciling items
  • Prepare month-end accrual journal entries as required
  • Facilitate payments to third party vendors and benefit carriers as required o verifies payment and data integrity between PeopleSoft modules
  • Prepare internal and external documentation as required
  • Update payroll accounting transactions into PeopleSoft as required
  • Research, review, advise and recommend regarding resolution of unique issues and projects as they
     

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Completion or near completion of a Professional Accounting designation (CPA)
  • Work experience in various accounting and analyst functions (2+ years)
  • Experience with business analysis and able to provide recommendations and implementation support
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capable of building and maintaining productive and collegial working relationships
  • Proficient to expert level use of computer software applications including Excel, PeopleSoft (navigation and query), data warehousing and other business intelligence query tools
