The Centre for Corporate Sustainability  in the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Sustainable Finance.

Job Description:

The Centre for Corporate Sustainability, in the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in sustainable finance. More specifically, the successful applicant will explore the different financial instruments, market conditions, and investment decisions based on ESG criteria, either from the corporate or investor perspective, which facilitate transition to a low carbon economy. The research will be published in high-quality academic finance and/or sustainability journals, as well as top practitioner-oriented journals.  Research topics include, but are not limited to, the role of venture capitalist and private equity investors in fostering environmental innovations, valuation of climate risks for corporations and investors, ESG ratings and the price and availability of financing, and financing energy transition.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in full-time research activities, with opportunities for co-authorship of papers stemming from work on sustainable finance and from other projects. The Postdoc Associate will also assist in organizing workshops and conferences when requested to do so.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have completed a PhD* in finance, economics, or a related field by the starting date of the position.  Applicants who demonstrate expertise in sustainable or responsible finance will be considered. Experience and interest in energy transition to low carbon economy and its finance implications will be considered as an asset.
